Vanguard LeBlanc: Scaling AP With the Right Arbiter Trigger

Detailed guideComp

Covers the final board, items, and tempo for this comp.

When you can open Arbiter, check the trigger first: basic attack count, damage instance count, or a reliable timed trigger can all work, but the best reward is Ability Power.

Standard Comp

At level 8, field LeBlanc, Nunu & Willump, Leona, Zoe, Meepsie, Mordekaiser, Illaoi, and Karma. At level 9, add Morgana.

Item Breakdown

Prioritize LeBlanc's best-in-slot items first, then standard tank items and Magic Resist shred.

Main Carry LeBlanc: the best three-item set is Guinsoo's Rageblade, Giant Slayer, and Jeweled Gauntlet. If you cannot make them, or you hit artifacts or a Vanguard Emblem, swap items according to the board image. If you build Guardbreaker, make sure it is paired with Jeweled Gauntlet, otherwise it will not reach full value.

Main Tank Nunu & Willump plays like Swain from last set. Prioritize tank items with Ability Power or items that synergize with Vanguard through shields or max Health.

Secondary Carry Karma only needs one mana-start item plus any two AP items. If you do not have Ionic Spark or Sunfire Cape, prioritize Void Staff and Morellonomicon.

This comp is essentially a lottery. When you hit a recommended Arbiter effect, it becomes the strongest level 8 four-cost board that can even beat Fast 9 comps. Each player gets random Arbiter effects and has to combine them themselves, so you do not need to worry much about being contested. But when you hit the jackpot, you need to know how to play it.

Positioning

Place Nunu & Willump in the second or third hex so it is easier to CC the enemy backline carry on the same side. The summon's ability grants Ability Power to the whole team, so do not put it in the corner where it can be killed immediately.

Divine Choice

Soraka healing and Kayle Radiant items are both major upgrades, so prioritize those two as your main god. Try not to make Evelynn or Aurelion Sol your main god; choose the others based on the carousel reward.

Tempo

Avoid rolling before level 8 and level with interest. Go level 8 on 4-2 and roll down. Finding 2-star LeBlanc, Karma, and Nunu & Willump is enough to stabilize through Stages 4 and 5.
