A Space Groove Emblem Riven and Nami guide covering conditions, final board, items, positioning, augments, divinities, and tempo.
Space Groove Riven revolves around putting the Space Groove Emblem on Riven. Her low mana lets her chain casts and keep the 5 Space Groove attack speed and offensive stats running. Without the emblem, the line is much weaker.
What to remember
- check_circleCommit when you find a Space Groove Emblem, ideally before 3-6; avoid forcing without it.
- check_circleNami wants Jeweled Gauntlet plus Nashor or Shojin, Riven wants Emblem plus Bloodthirster and Edge of Night or Titan, and Nunu/Tahm Kench take tank items.
- check_circlePut Blitzcrank in the corner to trigger early or mark the enemy main tank; Gwen uses her 2-hex range to avoid body blocking.
Core positioning
Frontline anchor / Primary carry / Physical damage / Magic damage / Backup carry
Playable Conditions
Play this only with a Space Groove Emblem, ideally found before 3-6. Do not force it without the emblem, because the comp relies heavily on Riven keeping the Space Groove buff active.
Standard Board
At level 8, use Pantheon, Gwen, Ornn, Riven, Tahm Kench, Nunu, Nami, and Blitzcrank for 5 Space Groove with the supporting frontline and backline traits. If you have not found Blitzcrank yet, use Nasus temporarily.
At level 9, add Shen to cap the board. 7 Space Groove is usually not worth prioritizing unless your expensive units are still missing or low quality.
The key emblem is Space Groove Emblem on Riven. Extra Timebreaker Emblem can go on Blitzcrank, while extra Vanguard Emblem can go on Tahm Kench.
Items
Backline carry Nami wants Jeweled Gauntlet, Nashor or Spear of Shojin, then any AP item. Space Groove already gives attack speed, so prioritize one strong starter item; Nashor pairs especially well with Jeweled Gauntlet.
Melee carry Riven must hold Space Groove Emblem, then Bloodthirster plus Edge of Night or Titan. The emblem supplies enough damage, so survival is the priority. Avoid Sterak if possible because it shifts her damage profile toward physical and lowers the value of AP shred.
Nunu or Tahm Kench can be the main tank. Build normal frontline items and prioritize Nunu when both are the same star level.
Comp Logic
The comp works because Space Groove Emblem gives its holder a 3-second Space Groove buff after every cast, while 5 Space Groove keeps stacking offensive stats. Riven has only 20 mana, so she can chain casts and keep scaling through the whole fight.
If Graves appears early, he can use a similar idea with the right divinity setup, especially Power Frame plus Cooling Medium, and can even beat a 3-star Corki board when the setup lands.
Positioning
Place Blitzcrank in the corner so he can trigger early, or move him to mark the enemy main tank. Gwen has 2-hex range, so this setup keeps her from getting body blocked. Nami sits in the back corner while Nunu and Tahm Kench absorb the first wave.

Divinity Choice
Ekko is the first choice, followed by Evelynn, Aurelion Sol, and Thresh because they can offer Space Groove Emblem around 2-4. Avoid Ahri: 5 Space Groove already gives offensive stats, so her blessing adds less and can make outside level-9 boards come online more easily.
Game Plan
In the early game, let Teemo or Milio hold Nami items while Talon holds Riven items. Add traits as you go, then level based on board quality: 4 on 2-1, 5 on 2-5, and 6 on 3-2.
Go level 8 around 4-2 and roll hard for the recommended board. Depending on HP, roll again around 4-5 or 5-1 until you have two upgraded 4-costs plus one extra 4-cost pair, then save economy because Tahm Kench can feed more copies.
At level 9, add Shen and look for 2-star Blitzcrank to finish the board. If other level-9 boards have already capped, you can stay level 8 and chase 3-star Nami or Riven.
